The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has raised allegations of irregularities at several government-run nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh, citing faculty shortages, vacant administrative posts and alleged submission of forged or fabricated experience certificates for recognition.
NSUI state vice-president Ravi Parmar made the allegations at a press conference in Bhopal on Sunday and demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. The student organisation also warned of agitation if action is not taken against those responsible, according to a PTI report.
According to Parmar, six government nursing colleges are functioning without principals, while 10 do not have vice-principals. He further alleged that several institutions do not have the faculty strength required under the Madhya Pradesh government’s 2018 recognition regulations.
The NSUI has also alleged that some nursing colleges submitted forged or fabricated experience certificates of faculty members while seeking recognition for the 2026-27 academic session.
As per the information shared at the press conference, applications for recognition were submitted by 22 government nursing colleges, of which three were not granted recognition. The remaining institutions are now under scrutiny following the allegations raised by the student organisation.
Petition Filed in Madhya Pradesh High Court
The NSUI has also approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court over the alleged irregularities. An advocate representing the organisation said a petition has been filed seeking an inquiry into the allegations and action against those found responsible.
The allegations, however, remain claims made by the NSUI and would require verification by the concerned authorities.
The 2018 recognition rules prescribe minimum faculty requirements for nursing colleges. For an intake of 30 students, these include a principal, vice-principal, two associate professors and other teaching staff.
The NSUI has demanded that the authorities conduct a detailed examination of the staffing position and faculty documents submitted by the nursing colleges. It has also warned of further agitation if the allegations are not addressed and appropriate action is not taken.
