The withdrawal follows strong observations by Justice Krishna Rao, who had earlier pointed to a conflict between the timings fixed for census work and regular school hours. The Census authority had prescribed 9 am to 4 pm as the working period for enumeration, while the West Bengal government had said teachers would undertake the assignment after completing their school duties.
