Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has reportedly secured a record-breaking OTT deal ahead of its theatrical release, further proving superstar’s unmatched commercial value. According to a report the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has fetched Rs 160 crore from a streaming partner. With music by Anirudh Ravichander, the sequel brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian following the success of the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The film is rumoured to feature Bollywood actors such as Mithun Chakraborty, Hrithik Roshan and Vidya Balan, along with cameo appearances by several actors of south Indian film industries.
Jailer 2 Bags Record Rs 160 Crore OTT Deal
According to Bollywood Hungama, Jailer 2 has secured an OTT deal worth Rs 160 crore. The report claims the agreement is the biggest non-theatrical deal of 2026 and the highest-ever for a Tamil film. A source cited by the media portal said the deal has surpassed Leo, adding that the agreement shows the massive commercial pull of Rajinikanth and the popularity of the Jailer franchise.
The exact structure of the deal and the streaming platform involved have not been revealed yet. However, the reported figure places Jailer 2 among the most valuable Indian films in terms of pre-release non-theatrical business.
Jailer 2 Release Date, Cast And First Single
Jailer 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2026, coinciding with the Dussehra period. The makers have also announced that the film’s first single will be released on August 21.
A 55-second promotional glimpse has already offered a preview of the sequel. The promo begins with Vinayakan’s final dialogue from Jailer and hints that the events of the first film were connected to a much larger network.
The sequel features an extensive ensemble cast. Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa and Yogi Babu are returning from the first film, while Suraj Venjaramoodu, Santhanam, Meghana Raj Sarja, Jatin Sarna and Bagavathi Perumal are among the other actors who will be seen in the film . Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi are also expected to make special appearances, adding to the film’s star-studded line-up.
The technical crew of Jailer 2 includes cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan, editor R Nirmal, art director Drk Kiran and action choreographer Chethan D’Souza. Following Jailer 2, Rajinikanth will star in Dharman, directed by Dragon fame Ashwath Marimuthu and produced by Kamal Haasan. He is also set to reunite with Kamal Haasan on screen for an upcoming untitled project which is also directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
