The action follows a prohibition order issued by the Gujarat Food and Drugs Control Administration and published in the Gujarat Government’s Extraordinary Gazette on August 5, 2026. The order prohibits the manufacture, processing, packaging, storage, transportation, distribution, sale and use in food service establishments of non-standardised “analogue in the dairy context” products, including products that imitate paneer, cream, butter and other dairy items.
