According to reports, CJP volunteer Shaik Abdul Hafeez (25) had taken part in the “School Thik Karo” campaign, under which citizens visit government schools to check their condition and flag problems. On August 13, Hafeez inspected a government school in his village in the Karisunda area of Bankura district. According to Dipke, later that evening, goons, who he claims are likely associated with the BJP, allegedly forced their way into the family’s home. Hafeez’s father, Janab Mafik, suffered severe head injuries in the assault and died on Saturday, according to reports.
