Meerut: A delivery agent was allegedly assaulted by a man inside a residential apartment in Meerut after a delay of around five minutes in delivering an order. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on August 14 at around 9.30 pm at Ganga Heights apartment in the Bhawnapur police station area of Meerut.
According to the viral CCTV footage, the delivery agent, identified as Amit, can be seen arriving at the apartment wearing a red shirt to deliver an order. He rings the doorbell and speaks to a man who comes out of the flat.
The two appear to have an argument, following which the man allegedly takes away the delivery agent’s mobile phone and starts assaulting him.
The footage shows the man allegedly slapping and kicking the delivery agent. The agent can also be seen asking for his phone back. A woman is also seen coming out of the flat during the incident.
The video further shows the delivery agent being taken inside the flat. It has been alleged that he was assaulted inside the apartment as well. He is later seen being brought out of the flat.
According to reports, the argument began after the delivery agent allegedly reached the apartment around five minutes late with the order.
Meerut police have taken note of the viral video and ordered an investigation into the incident.
CO Sadar Dehat Sudhir Kumar said the police verified that the incident took place on August 14, 2026. He said a delivery agent had reached the apartment with an order and was allegedly abused and assaulted by the accused over the delay in delivery.
Kumar said the people involved in the incident have been identified. Police are obtaining a complaint from the victim and registering a case under relevant sections at Bhawnapur police station.
He added that police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused and that the accused is expected to be arrested soon.
The officer said the situation at the spot is peaceful and there is currently no law and order issue. Further legal action is being taken as per the law.
