The Karnataka government has launched the recruitment process for 15,000 teachers across government schools, state Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa announced. The online application process will begin on August 18, 2026.
According to Bangarappa, the recruitment includes 6,967 posts for the Kalyana Karnataka region and 8,033 posts under the Residual Parent Cadre (RPC).
The teacher recruitment drive will cover multiple teaching positions, including Graduate Primary School Teachers (GPTs), Computer Science Teachers, Physical Education Teachers and High School Assistant Teachers. Physical Education Teacher posts will include Grade-I and Grade-II positions.
District-wise Teacher Recruitment
The minister said the government has decided to issue separate recruitment notifications based on vacancies in each educational district. Candidates will therefore need to check the notification applicable to their district for details of available posts.
The notifications will provide information on the number of vacancies, reservation details and the teacher posts available in each district. Applications will be accepted only through the online mode.
Bangarappa said the official recruitment notifications have already been published on the Karnataka government’s e-Gazette portal. Candidates can also access application-related information through the Karnataka School Education Department website.
The minister said the recruitment process had been delayed due to several factors, including the implementation of internal reservation and court stay orders. The government had also planned changes to the teacher recruitment process as part of its broader efforts to reform the school education system.
Bangarappa said the government had faced repeated questions over when teacher recruitment would begin, particularly amid discussions around improving government schools and the quality of education.
The minister said he had directed officials to ensure that the recruitment process is conducted transparently and without confusion for candidates.
The 15,000-post recruitment drive is expected to provide fresh opportunities for teaching aspirants while helping the state address vacancies in government schools. Candidates are advised to check the district-wise notifications carefully before applying, as the vacancies and reservation provisions may differ across educational districts.
The recruitment announcement comes as the Karnataka government continues to focus on strengthening government schools and improving access to quality education.
