Mirzapur is finally making the jump from streaming to the big screen. After three successful seasons that turned it into one of India’s most-watched crime dramas, Mirzapur: The Movie is set to bring back its iconic characters while also introducing a few new faces to the story. With the film’s release just weeks away and excitement already building among fans, here’s a look at which original characters are making a comeback, who’s joining the cast for the first time, and what the film’s story is expected to revolve around.
Old And New Characters In Mirzapur: The Movie
Several key faces from the original series are returning for the film, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi, and Shweta Tripathi Sharma as Golu Gupta. Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Anangsha Biswas and Harshita Gaur are also reportedly reprising their roles from the show.

However, one major change is that Vikrant Massey, who played Bablu Pandit in the series, has exited the project, with Jitendra Kumar stepping in to bring the character back to life. Ravi Kishan and Mohit Malik have also joined the cast as new additions. Sonal Chauhan reportedly came on board a little later. Reports also mention Shubhrajyoti Barat and Prashansa Sharma being part of the film, though their exact roles have not been detailed yet.

Directed by Gurmeet Singh, who has helmed episodes of the series before, and written by Puneet Krishna, the film is being produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. The story is expected to continue the battle for control over Mirzapur, with old rivalries resurfacing and new threats emerging as power-hungry contenders fight to take over the city’s underworld.
The makers had earlier held a muhurat puja in Mumbai last year to mark the start of the project, with several cast members reportedly present for the occasion. While an official trailer released on August 11, the details of the story were revealed ahead of the film’s September 4 release date. There is strong anticipation among fans of the franchise, especially after the show’s popular third season. With familiar faces returning and new characters joining the world of Mirzapur, the film is expected to be one of the most talked-about franchise extensions in recent years.
