When Vijay Spoke About Becoming CM During Sarkar

In the 2018 Tamil film Sarkar, Vijay played Sundar Ramasamy, a successful businessman who enters politics after discovering that his vote was fraudulently cast by someone else. His character fights corruption and urges citizens to fight for their rights.

Interestingly, during the promotions of the film, Vijay had opened up about what he would do if he ever became a chief minister in real life.

The actor had said that he would not merely “act” like a CM but would sincerely fulfil his responsibilities. He had shared that eliminating bribery and corruption would be among his top priorities. He had, however, clarified that his remarks were not aimed at any particular state or region. Vijay had further explained that when leaders and senior officials remain honest, the entire system naturally follows the same path. He had also pointed out how even basic services, including birth and death certificates, are often linked to bribery because of unethical leadership. According to him, upright leaders inspire discipline and honesty among their followers. He had concluded by saying that dharma and justice always triumph in the end, even if it takes time.

Last year, rumours were rife that Vijay and filmmaker AR Murugadoss were planning to reunite for their fourth collaboration. However, the project never moved forward. Reports suggested that industry conditions and other production-related challenges played a major role in the shelving of Thalapathy 65.
