Storms can send tree branches, broken glass, metal, rubbish and other debris into swimming areas. Some objects may remain underwater and be difficult to see, creating a risk of cuts, puncture wounds or other injuries. Debris can also travel downstream, meaning an area that appears relatively undamaged may still contain hazardous objects.
