The lawsuit has political connections to Mamdani’s opponents. One plaintiff, Rachel O’Brien, is married to Republican New York City Council member Frank Morano, whose father is also a plaintiff. Mastro previously served as first deputy mayor under former Mayor Eric Adams and as chief of staff to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
