For the 2027–28 season, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has handed India just one qualifying play-off spot in the AFC Challenge League. This tournament is the third and lowest tier in Asia’s club structure. As a result, Indian teams will now be competing against clubs from countries like Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bangladesh.
