US President Donald Trump on Monday launched a blistering attack on Iran’s leadership, accusing Tehran of secretly seeking negotiations while publicly denying any talks, and warning that “nothing gets through” to the country unless it agrees to a deal or “total surrender.”
In a fiery post on his Truth Social platform, Trump alleged that Iranian leaders had approached the United States for talks but were simultaneously claiming they were only engaging with Oman.
“Iranian Leadership is unbelievably duplicitous!” Trump wrote. “They ask for a meeting, some would say ‘beg,’ talks begin, with more scheduled in the immediate future, and they say, openly and proudly, that they’re not having any discussions… and they’re only dealing with ‘Oman.'”
The remarks come amid heightened tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme and continued diplomatic efforts involving regional mediators.
Claims US Controls Strait of Hormuz
Trump also dismissed Iran’s assertions over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important oil shipping routes, claiming it was already under the control of the US Navy.
“They… say the Strait of Hormuz will be operated powerfully by them, when it is already completely controlled by the United States Navy and our ‘Blockade’ or, as some say, ‘The United States Wall of Steel!'” he wrote.
He further claimed that no supplies would reach Iran without Washington’s approval. “Nothing gets through to Iran, unless we want it to, and nothing will get through, unless a Deal, or Total Surrender, is accomplished,” Trump said.
‘Iran Will Never Have a Nuclear Weapon’
Reiterating his long-held position on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, Trump insisted that Iran would never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon.
“Whether Iran wants to admit it or not, we are, in fact, talking of a solution to a problem that they have caused, for decades,” he wrote.
“It is very simple, IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!”
The post marks one of Trump’s strongest public statements on Iran in recent weeks, combining allegations of behind-the-scenes diplomacy with renewed warnings over Tehran’s nuclear programme and maritime influence in the Gulf. Iran has not immediately responded to Trump’s claims.
