A 14-year-old Class 8 student was found dead after allegedly hanging himself in his family’s field in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district, with police investigating whether a dispute over mobile phone use may have preceded the incident.

The deceased, identified as Puneet Salvi, a resident of Mohi village, was found hanging from an iron beam inside the field enclosure on Saturday morning.

According to preliminary information, Puneet was using a mobile phone at home on Friday night when his mother asked him to hand it over to his sister and focus on his studies. His father later asked him to fetch water. After completing the errand, the teenager left the house but did not return.

His family searched for him throughout the night but could not trace him.

The following morning, Puneet’s grandmother discovered his body hanging from a saree tied to an iron angle in the family’s field enclosure. Police from Kankroli police station reached the spot and launched an investigation. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also collected evidence from the scene.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police said the exact cause and circumstances of the death will be determined after the post-mortem and forensic reports. Investigators are examining all possible angles and have not ruled out any possibility.
