The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a one-time relaxation for candidates with allotted seats in Round 1 of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) Counselling 2025. Eligible candidates can now resign from their allotted seats without losing their security deposit.
As per the official notice issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), candidates need to visit their allotted institute within the given timeline from July 31 to August 4, 2026, to complete their registration process.
The committee emphasised that the one-time relaxation has been introduced under exceptional circumstances and will not be considered applicable for the future counselling rounds.
How to Resign from Round 1 NEET SS Counselling?
Candidates who want to resign from the seats allotted to them in Round 1 need to physically report to their allotted colleges within the given timeframe. At the same time, they can also collect their original documents after completing the resignation process.
MCC has also stated that the resignation process must be completed online through the MCC portal by the concerned institute. Any resignation accepted offline by a college or institute will be treated as null and void.
Therefore, the candidates are advised to complete the process before the given deadline so that their resignation is processed successfully under the one-time relaxation.
FAIMA Welcomes MCC’s One-Time Relaxation
The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has welcomed the MCC’s decision, as it will benefit the eligible candidates.
In a post on X, the doctors’ body appreciated MCC’s move and urged candidates to complete the resignation process within the prescribed timeline. It also requested the counselling authority to ensure that the remaining rounds of the admission process are completed smoothly so that specialist doctors can begin their training without unnecessary delays.
MCC has reiterated that the facility is applicable only as a special one-time measure for NEET SS Counselling 2025 Round 1. Meanwhile, the committee is expected to announce the schedule for NEET UG Counselling 2026 separately for admissions to MBBS, BDS and other undergraduate medical courses under the All India Quota (AIQ).
