A shocking alleged murder conspiracy has come to light in Gujarat’s Jamnagar, where a man who had been reported missing for nearly two years was found to have been killed, allegedly by his wife, her lover and another accomplice. The matter came to light after the wife confessed to the crime.
Jignesh Mavadiya’s body was found buried inside a factory shed in Dared GIDC during a police investigation.
Victim Out Of Contact For Two Years
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s elder brother, Ashok Mavadiya, Jignesh had been out of contact for nearly two years. Whenever family members enquired about his whereabouts, Jignesh’s wife, Pruthviben alias Bhumiben, allegedly claimed that he had gone to Australia for work and could not be contacted.
The complainant alleged that the family grew suspicious after repeated requests for Jignesh’s contact details were avoided.
When a relative informed Pruthviben that the family would approach the police, she allegedly confessed that Jignesh had been killed nearly two years earlier.
Victim Served Liquor Laced With Cyanide
Following the complaint, City ‘B’ Division Police launched an investigation. During the probe, police allegedly found that Jignesh was murdered in May 2024, after cyanide was mixed into his liquor. Investigators suspect that the crime was carried out by his wife, her alleged lover Nilesh Mansukhbhai Kachhatiya and another associate, Balveer Deviram Verma.
Police further alleged that after the murder, the accused dug a deep pit inside a factory shed in Dared GIDC and buried the body to conceal the crime.
Skeleton Recovered From Pit Inside Factory Shed, Sent For Post-Mortem
Based on the investigation, a human skeleton was exhumed from the location and sent for post-mortem examination to confirm the victim’s identity.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Pratibha Godara said the missing person’s complaint was registered after the family became suspicious over Jignesh’s prolonged disappearance and the inconsistent explanations given by his wife.
Police also said the investigation has revealed that the woman and the co-accused were allegedly in a relationship even before her marriage.
Officials believe the relationship resumed after the marriage, and this angle is also being examined as part of the investigation.
Further investigation is underway, and police are awaiting forensic and post-mortem findings to establish the complete sequence of events.
