The difference lies in how they respond to that pain. Consumed by grief and betrayal, Jean initially allows her anger to dictate her actions. She invades minds, manipulates innocent people and nearly kills Bill Metzger, believing revenge is the only justice left after everything the DODC took from her. Peter, however, has walked a similar path before. He has every reason to give in to rage after losing Aunt May, his friends and even his own identity, yet he never abandons the values she instilled in him.
