As India works towards its goal of eliminating lymphatic filariasis by 2027, Chhattisgarh has emerged as a key contributor through large-scale prevention campaigns, community participation and strengthened healthcare delivery. “India continues to carry one of the world’s highest burdens of lymphatic filariasis, with millions still living in at-risk areas despite decades of progress. As India works towards eliminating the disease by 2027, Chhattisgarh has emerged as an important part of the national effort, with 18 endemic districts conducting a mass drug administration campaign in 2026,” said Dr. Jitendra Kumar, State Program Officer, National Centre for Vector-borne Diseases Control.
