Heels, for better or for worse, have been the bona fide marker of formal fashion. The heeled sneaker wave had its moment, but it never quite managed to break into the effortless chic space. Something, that surprisingly, the most no-frills version of the sneaker has now managed to do. You see, the ‘granny sneaker’ aesthetic is against only one thing – discomfort. And what it also does not agree with, is diluting the visual impact of a carefully curated look to make it look ‘easy’.
