Mirabai Chanu completed a hat trick of gold medal wins at the Commonwealth Games by securing the gold in Glasgow. Mirabai, who won a silver medal on her CWG debut in Glasgow in 2014, returned to the same city 12 years later to win her third gold. She had finished in the top position in the Gold Coast and Birmingham events as well. Mirabai lifted a total weight of 190kg to create history and win the gold. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed her achievements and called her an “inspiration for every Indian.”
