Following their third consecutive series defeat in the UK in the past one month, Team India has landed in Zimbabwe for a three-match T20I series. A second-string squad under the leadership of regular captain Shreyas Iyer will have its task cut out as India haven’t won a T20I since their 2026 T20 World Cup title win. Iyer made a forgettable debut as the India captain as Ireland whitewashed the Men in Blue 2-0. After a washed out game against England, India lost four games on the trot against the Harry Brook-led side.
Zimbabwe don’t pose a big threat to India and the visitors will back themselves to whitewash the hosts. Zimbabwe haven’t managed to defeat India since 2015. Before the start of the series, here we have a look at the complete details –
Schedule
The three India-Zimbabwe T20Is will be played on July 23, 25 and 26. All three fixtures will be played at the Harare Sports Club in Harare from 4:30 PM IST.
Squad
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be in action against Zimbabwe. He struggled to play a big knock against England and will hope to return to form against Zimbabwe. India rested Sanju Samson for the series and recalled Prabhsimran Singh for the first time since the 2023 Asian Games.
Mayank Yadav also made his return to the T20I team after two years. Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur were handed their maiden India call-ups for the series.
India will be without their head coach Gautam Gambhir. VVS Laxman will once again coach India on a stand-in basis in the absence of the regular head coach.
