In LWE-affected areas, the CRPF neutralised 40 Maoists, arrested 71 cadres and facilitated the surrender of 336 extremists. Security forces also seized a large haul of weapons and explosives during these operations: 375 firearms, 8,321 rounds of ammunition, 321 improvised explosive devices (IEDs, or home-made bombs), 677 grenades, 1,384 detonators, 1,422 gelatin sticks, 236.5 kg of explosives, 4.71 kg of narcotics and more than Rs 2 crore in cash.
