Replying to a question by Congress MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar, Bora said that of Assam’s 267.5-km international border with Bangladesh, 228.541 km has been secured with barbed-wire fencing, while the remaining stretch is yet to be covered. According to the Survey of India, Assam shares a 267.5-km border with Bangladesh across the districts of Dhubri, South Salmara-Mankachar, Cachar and Sribhumi. The minister clarified that the responsibility for constructing border fencing lies with the Central Government.
