The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against B. Ravinder, Chief Engineer of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), alleging that he amassed wealth far beyond his known sources of income through corrupt practices during his service.
The case has been registered under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
As part of the investigation, ACB officials carried out simultaneous searches on July 14 at Ravinder’s residence, office and nine other locations linked to his relatives, associates and alleged benamidars.
According to the ACB, the searches uncovered several immovable properties, including five open plots in Kondakal, Kistapur and Pasamail, four residential flats in Narsingi and Nanakramguda, four acres of agricultural land in Gudur village of Kothur mandal, a semi-finished villa in Mokila, and a G+4 building in Masjid Banda, Kondapur.
The agency said the official value of these properties runs into several crores, while their market value is expected to be significantly higher.
During the searches, officials also seized Rs 3.82 lakh in cash, bank deposits worth around Rs 45.05 lakh, nearly 1.44 kg of gold ornaments valued at Rs 36.70 lakh, 12.5 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh, household articles valued at Rs 17.24 lakh, electronic gadgets worth Rs 9.32 lakh and four luxury vehicles collectively valued at around Rs 1.16 crore.
According to the ACB, the total value of assets identified so far is estimated at Rs 9.24 crore. The agency said verification of additional assets is still underway.
The accused officer will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand.
Further investigation into the case is in progress.
