According to PTI, the PMK leader also said that student enrolment in government and private schools combined declined by 1.15 lakh over the previous year. However, the government schools solely recorded a much steeper fall of 2.07 lakh students, with enrolment decreasing from 45,10,612 in 2024-25 to 43.03 lakh in 2025-26, which means that 7.39 lakh students have left government schools over the past three years, across Tamil Nadu.
