'Reality Is Knocking': Iran Sharpens Tone Against US, Says 'Era Of One-Sided Deal Is Over'

'reality is knocking': iran sharpens tone against us, says 'era of one-sided deal is over'

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Sunday delivered a stern message to the United States, declaring that the era of “one-sided deals” was over and warning Washington that it would face consequences if it failed to honour its commitments under the signed MoU.

Taking to X, Ghalibaf wrote, “The era of one-sided deals is OVER. We told you: keep your word or pay the price. Reality is knocking.”

The remarks are being viewed as Tehran’s latest show of defiance amid heightened tensions with the US.

US Strikes Iran

The US military launched fresh strikes on Iran after it struck a container ship on Sunday. In retaliation to the US strikes, Tehran said it had again closed the Strait of Hormuz. Escalating the attack, Iran launched defensive strikes on US facilities in states across the Gulf.

A series of attacks between the US and Iran over the past several days led President Donald Trump to declare the end of a ceasefire meant to halt the fighting that the US and Israel began on February 28.

Iran Closes Strait Of Hormuz

In response to the US strikes, Iran on Sunday again said that it had closed the strait after firing a warning shot that struck a vessel traveling on an unapproved route. It warned that any retaliation over the incident would be met with a “severe response.”

The US Central Command, however, said commercial vessels continue to transit through the waterway that carried one-fifth of the world’s oil and LNG shipments before the war.

Iran Targets Gulf Nations

As tensions escalated between Iran and the US, explosions were heard in Qatar’s Doha, the UAE, and Bahrain, while Jordan sounded the alarm.

Citing fresh escalation, the United Arab Emirates warned the public of an incoming missile and drone attack as explosions could be heard in nearby Qatar. A missile alert was sounded in Qatar shortly after the blasts, with the military saying in a statement that it intercepted the incoming Iranian fire.

Meanwhile, missile alerts sounded in Bahrain, an island kingdom in the Persian Gulf home to the US Navy’s 5th Fleet.
