Officials initially closed Soquel Canyon Parkway at Butterfield Ranch Road while firefighters worked to contain the fire. By 1:45 p.m., the fire was reported to be 50% contained, with firefighters successfully protecting homes in the direct path of the blaze. Authorities also revised the fire size to just under three acres.
