After his selection, he underwent 18 months of rigorous training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. With his exceptional performance during the training period, he received appreciation from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
