What makes this fire sting a bit more for locals is the building’s backstory. The Dorsey House dates back to 1847, when it got its start as a stagecoach stop, the kind of place travelers would pull into for rest along their route. That original building lasted until 2005, when it was finally torn down. A newer version went up afterward on the same land, keeping the old name alive, and it’s operated since then as a restaurant and event space for banquets.
