In non-traditional areas of warfare, such as hybrid warfare and cyber, India’s capabilities are behind the curve. Article 5, as it was written, never intended to cover cyberattacks, but presumably that is the way the contemporary understanding of collective defence is moving. If so, India needs to be in lockstep with discussions on digital deterrence, given it falls outside the NATO security umbrella.
