Capgemini Shuts Bengaluru Daycare After Shocking Toddler Abuse Allegations

Capgemini has temporarily shut its daycare centre on HAL campus in Bengaluru after reports of abuse of toddlers by five women staff members. The five women were booked for physically abusing the toddlers at the Society General Baby Daycare Centre. The case was registered at the HAL Police Station after authorities received a complaint through the child helpline.

Videos that have surfaced in connection with the case allegedly show children crying while being subjected to physical abuse and intimidation by the caregivers.

According to the FIR, the toddlers, aged 2 and 3, were allegedly intimidated and forced to sit inside a loaded washing machine, made to sit on a Western-style toilet, and had water sprayed into their mouths using a toilet jet. They were also allegedly locked inside bathrooms and threatened into remaining silent.

The five women have been booked under the Juvenile Justice Act and were taken into custody for questioning on Tuesday. Further investigation is underway.

Capgemini Issues Statement

Capgemini later issued a statement regarding the incident. “Our foremost priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of its employees and their families. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and assisting them in their efforts to establish the facts. As a precautionary measure, we are temporarily closing the Bengaluru on-campus daycare facility.”
