What is Kanchivaram Silk Known For?
Kanchivaram Silk Fabric is known and celebrated as one of the best handloom traditions of India and is renowned worldwide for its luxurious texture, exceptional craftsmanship and vibrant colours. The history of the fabric is also very rich. It is woven in the town of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu and the silk fabric is crafted using very fine mulberry silk and is prized for its durability as much as it is praised for its beauty. Authentic pieces can be distinguished by the detailed zari motifs, contrasting borders, and lustrous finish. Many of these motifs are inspired by temple architecture, flowers, peacocks, leaves and geometric patterns.
