Lionel Messi continued the goal-scoring spree at the FIFA World Cup 2026 and scored his sixth goal in the final Group J match against Jordan at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Messi was benched from the game, but came as a substitute in the 60th minute and wasted no time in adding more goals to his tally. He converted a free kick in the 80th minute to give Argentina a 3-1 lead in the match. Earlier, goals by Lo Celso and Lautaro Martinez had put Argentina in the driver’s seat, but a late strike by Jordan’s Al-Tamari had brought life back into the contest.
