Despite the excellent efforts of Congolese goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi, who made eight saves and was only exposed by a regrettable ricochet, the ghost goals were scored. Late in the game, DR Congo unleashed some of their own fire, forcing Camilo Vargas, Mpasi’s opposite number, to make some last-minute stops to preserve his country’s lead. But ultimately Los Cafeteros proved too much for the African squad.
