How Nvidia's New AI Could Stop Humanoid Robots From Making Dangerous Mistakes

Usually, robots operate behind barriers and use sensors that force them to stop when a person comes too close. While this approach improves safety, it can reduce efficiency. Amit Goel, a senior director of product management at Nvidia, said, “If you think about safety in the context of a traditional robot, it is basically you need to put it in a cage or you need to have sensors which can detect there’s an obstacle and the robot comes to a stop. But that is not enough for a humanoid robot.”
