Immersing idols in rivers or into the sea is surely a practice that millions see as an act of devotion in India; however, the same cannot necessarily be said about the rest of the countries, where traditions and cultures are followed in a different manner. A similar debate was quick to take over, after a video of an Indian family immersing a Lord Ganesha idol into a Canadian river came forward on social media. The clip showed a young son, along with his mother, immersing the idol, along with some flowers and grass, into the crystal clear water.
