Iran US Israel War Live Updates: Iran to Reopen Strait of Hormuz, US to Lift Naval Blockade Immediately, Says Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif

US President Donald Trump has acknowledged the difficulty of securing the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, offering a rare glimpse into the challenges behind the negotiations.

Video footage from the signing ceremony at the Palace of Versailles showed Trump briefly pausing before signing the document. Addressing those present, he remarked: “This was not easy,” before adding, “I can tell you that,” as he put pen to paper on the first page of the agreement.

The comments come after weeks of intensive diplomacy involving multiple mediators, including Oman and Qatar, aimed at ending the conflict and establishing a framework for future negotiations.

Trump has repeatedly argued that military pressure and diplomacy together helped bring Tehran to the negotiating table, while Iranian officials have maintained that they entered talks from a position of strength. The brief remark at Versailles underscores the political and diplomatic hurdles that preceded the agreement.

The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a 60-day process for negotiating a broader settlement covering nuclear issues, sanctions relief, maritime security and regional stability.
