Jota made his debut for Portugal in 2019 and played 49 times for his country, in which he scored 14 goals. He won two trophies with his country, which were the abovementioned Nations League title in 2025 and another. He was also part of the Portuguese squad for the semifinal and final, which won the inaugural edition of the competition in 2019, but did not play a game.
