Eight crewmembers are believed to be dead after a United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base, northeast of Los Angeles, on Monday morning. In a statement, the base said that the aircraft went down on the airfield at approximately 11:20 AM. Officials said emergency personnel responded immediately and that the situation remains active.
