Banaskantha MP Geniben Nagaji Thakor said farmers across the country were struggling for their rights and alleged that private companies were forcibly introducing seed balls into agricultural fields. “Today the country’s farmers are fighting for their rights. Private companies are forcibly putting seed balls in farmers’ fields. They are not getting the compensation they should receive. The Congress Party and farmers want to talk to the government,” she said.
Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda accused the BJP government of suppressing farmers’ voices and preventing them from marching towards Gandhinagar. “There is British rule in Gujarat today, where farmers are being looted. BJP, following the polices of the British, are causing atrocities against the farmers. Using Police and Administration, the farmers are being threatened and scared. Over various demands of the farmers, Gujarat Congress and many farmers organisation are going to march towards Gandhinagar. BJP is stopping the farmers from it. We will fight for the farmers and embolden their voice,” he said.
The rally, organised under the banner of the Kisan Adhikar Tractor Rally, witnessed participation from farmers and opposition leaders seeking greater government engagement on agricultural concerns.
