The government has issued a new directive restricting retail fuel outlets from dispensing more than 200 litres of diesel per day to a consumer or vehicle to prevent hoarding and local shortages. The decision comes after authorities noticed a sharp rise in petrol and high-speed diesel sales at retail pumps in certain regions. Officials believe industrial, institutional, and commercial consumers have been purchasing fuel from retail outlets instead of designated supply channels, as bulk diesel costs nearly Rs 40 per litre more than retail diesel. The government warned that large-scale fuel purchases at retail stations could divert supplies away from regular consumers, potentially disrupting essential services and causing shortages. Under the new order, industrial, institutional, and commercial users must source petrol and diesel only through dedicated supply channels. The restriction will remain in force for up to 90 days and may be extended through a fresh government order. Authorities have also warned of strict action against black marketing and diesel hoarding. #timesnow #englishnews #diesel #fuel #government #petrol #retail #hoarding #shortage #economy
