Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday became India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, crossing the milestone of 4,399 consecutive days in office, surpassing the record set by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

The achievement is set to be formally recognised at a major National Democratic Alliance (NDA) conclave in New Delhi to honour the Prime Minister Modi’s tenure and review the government’s future roadmap.

While the Prime Minister will preside over the conclave, senior Union ministers like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, among others, are expected to attend the event, sources told news agency PTI. Deputy CM of all 22 NDA-ruled states are also likely to attend the meeting.

NDA Congratulate PM Modi On Historic Milestone

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended congratulations to Prime Minister Modi on becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history, terming the achievement a testament to the enduring trust reposed in his leadership by the people of India and his relentless pursuit of inclusive development and good governance.

“Congratulations to Narendra Modi Ji on becoming the longest serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history, completing 4,399 days in office. A tireless Karmayogi guided by the principle of Nation First, his tenure reflects unwavering dedication to India, steadfast commitment to the welfare of its people, and transformative leadership in service of the nation”, Rajnath Singh said in a post on X.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Union minister and former BJP chief Nadda noted that Prime Minister Modi had surpassed the number of serving days of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and said that the occasion should be remembered as a landmark day in the country’s history.

“This day should be etched in golden words in history. On this day, India’s ‘Pradhan Sevak’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has broken all records, including that of the country’s first Prime Minister, by serving the nation continuously for the maximum number of days,” Nadda said.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving a “historic milestone” as India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister. In a post on the social media platform X, Sitharaman highlighted that over the past 4,399 days, the Prime Minister’s Office has provided “decisive and strong leadership” during numerous challenging moments faced by the nation.

Reflecting on the core philosophy of the current administration, the Finance Minister noted that the principle of ‘Antyodaya’, the service of the last person, remains central to the government’s journey. She emphasised that the motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ has ensured the benefits of development reach every citizen, regardless of their proximity to state or national capitals.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asserted that his achievement in becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister is the result of the love, trust, and immense public support of crores of Indians.

He said that PM Modi’s journey of 4,399 days represents a “golden chapter” in the construction of an empowered, prosperous, developed, and self-reliant India.
