The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has increased the wage ceiling for mandatory Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) coverage from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 per month, with the revised limit taking effect from September 17, 2026. The change can bring more employees under mandatory EPF coverage. For instance, an employee earning Rs 20,000 a month who was previously outside mandatory EPF coverage because their wages exceeded the earlier Rs 15,000 threshold may now become eligible from September 17.
