Suleman Usman Mithaiwala is one of the several Mumbai establishments that have been facing regulatory action during the FDA drive and the authority has suspended the licences of other businesses as well like a Swiggy Instamart dark store in Ballard Estate and an Amazon-linked warehouse in Kandivali, after inspectors reported different food-safety and sanitation violations. This drive also led to the licence suspension of Mumbai’s famous Cafe Mondegar. The scale of the Maharashtra operation was significant. Authorities said around 32,023 kg/litres of suspected adulterated, substandard or unhygienically handled food worth ₹1.36 crore was seized or destroyed across the state. The products included items such as khoya, mawa, peda, sweets, ghee, edible oil, jaggery and dairy products.
