Today, on 27 May, Padmini Ekadashi of the Adhik Maas is being observed across the country. It is also known as Kamala Ekadashi and Punyavardhini Ekadashi. According to the Hindu calendar, this fast is observed during the Shukla Paksha of Adhik Maas (also called Malmas or Purushottam Maas), which comes once every three years. It is considered one of the most meritorious fasts, believed to destroy sins and bring great spiritual benefits. On this day, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are worshipped together.
