Chinese EV manufacturer BYD has ended rumours by officially confirming that it will bring its first-ever PHEV (Plug-In-hybrid) to India soon. The carmaker’s official teaser does not reveal the name or image of the upcoming car, but shows ‘BYD DM-i’ and ‘Super Plug-in Hybrid EV’, which clearly articulates its intention of the launch. BYD’s move to enter the hybrid SUV segment, where buyers are anticipated to show more inclination, especially after rising fuel prices, seems significant. While BYD has already built its reputation in India with premium EVs, the upcoming model could help the brand attract a larger audience, especially customers who are not yet ready to go fully electric.
