Fortunately or unfortunately, we live in a world where women are increasingly telling each other that it’s okay to start envisioning and realistically building a life with no main character men in them. This is not an outright rejection of men, brothers, male friends, boyfriends and husbands; it’s a real-time realisation of the deeply exploitative brief and expectations of patriarchy, something also unassumingly nestled by the ‘good men’ of the world. It’s been a long, long time since women stopped expecting men to be their saviours – those on the other side of the fence, will likely be delivered past the threshold by their own experiences, sooner or later. For the women that have already crossed over, most will agree that you built-in best friend, however younger or older, will always ride at dawn, dusk and every hour in-between, whenever you need them.
