Anil Kapoor’s one of the most loved films, 1942: A Love Story, is re-releasing in theatres on August 21, 2026, in an upgraded format. It was released in 1994. The Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed film also starred Manisha Koirala and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles. In a recent interview, Anil Kapoor revealed he had almost rejected the film as he was initially unsure about playing the lead role. He felt the role needed someone younger. He revealed that he had suggested Bobby Deol and Aamir Khan’s names to Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the role. Apart from that, Anil also revealed that he got insecured and fought for screen time in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha song from the film.
