A routine flight turned into an unexpected family dining session when a group of passengers brought out a sizeable spread of snacks and began serving themselves food inside an IndiGo aircraft. A video capturing the unusual scene has surfaced online, prompting a lively debate over what is acceptable behaviour inside a flight cabin.
The clip, shared on X, shows a woman taking out a pile of disposable plates before serving food to members of her group. Several passengers can then be seen eating from the plates as different snacks and accompaniments are passed around.
The spread reportedly included samosas, dhoklas, theplas and assorted namkeen. With the family seemingly well-prepared, the meal looked less like a quick snack and more like a small family gathering taking place thousands of feet in the air.
Food, however, was not the only thing happening in the cabin. Some of the girls accompanying the group were seen applying press-on nails, while others continued eating and attending to the food spread. A few members of the group were also seen moving through the cabin with their plates.
By the end of the video, the woman who had served the food could be seen gathering the used plates and leftover waste into a large garbage bag.
The unusual footage quickly attracted attention online, with social media users split over whether the family’s elaborate meal was simply harmless fun or a breach of basic flight etiquette.
Some users questioned why the cabin crew had not stepped in. One commenter argued that airlines should have clearer rules regarding passengers bringing and consuming outside food onboard.
Others raised concerns about the strong smell that certain foods could create in an enclosed aircraft cabin. According to some users, the concern was less about passengers carrying food and more about whether the smell could disturb people seated nearby during the journey.
IndiGo has not yet issued an official response to the viral video. The article will be updated if the airline comments on the incident.
