Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini dismissed allegations of political manipulation and cross-voting during the Rajya Sabha elections, saying the Congress was suffering from a crisis of leadership and credibility. Responding to a question from Times Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar, Saini said Congress leaders themselves lacked faith in their MLAs, pointing to senior leaders acting as polling agents during the voting process.
“There was no cross-voting. Because of Congress’ wrong policies, people no longer trust the party,” Saini said, while also taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, claiming Congress leaders were unsure of his statements and direction.
“I believe that Congress does not have a policy. Congress also does not have a vision. The people in Congress are fed up. They do not know what Rahul Gandhi will say, where he will say what. They also feel inferior to themselves. When Rahul Gandhi says something, they say that he has made you a fool,” he said.
The good people in Congress, they want to go away from Congress. And they are going, he remarked.
